A couple of recent finishes.

Close up of cushion below. Design copyright Quilters Cache. Free pattern available from Quilters Cache website & can be found in the 24 inch block section.

Den liked it.

I hand quilted the panels & made them up into Santa sacks for Lily & Daniel my grandchildren.  I think they preferred the contents inside!

My Daughters Graduation

I knitted this for Cheryl's Graduation from University of Gloucestershire on 16th November. Her ears should be upright. I didn't take the picture, so I had no control over them! Pattern From Simply Knitting Magazine copyright Alan Dart.

Me & Cheryl after her Graduation ceremony. The fountain behind us is the one that can be seen in  Harry Potter's photo of his parents. It is in the courtyard outside the Nave of Gloucester Cathedral.

Archie & the Cat Quilt

I've started a new quilt. It's from a free pattern I found on www.northcott.net entitled Kool Kats Kwilt by Patti Carey.
I'm using up some of my scrap bag.
Well, today I started to arrange the cat blocks on my daughters' bed before making up the snails trail cat tails & this is what happened when I went off to have a chat on the phone...

Arranging the blocks

Archie decided to 'help'

Think that will do!

All this arranging is so tiring! Time for a cat nap!

RIP

I've just found out from the 123 board that Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum (Lavender & Lace, Butternut Road, Told in a Garden) has passed away.

She was such a talented designer & will be greatly missed by the stitching community.

UFO's Part 3

©DMC Foxgloves

©1992 Cross My Heart Inc from chart booklet Artistic Landscapes CSB-76
Completed. Needs framing.

©Mary Hickmotts New Stitches Magazine
Completed. Needs framing.

Same details as the one above.

Almost finished. ©Dimensions 1991 Kit № 3705

Chart mislaid. If memory serves - It's a Lanarte

The chart for his one also mislaid!!! Pretty sure it came from a UK magazine.

UFO'S Part 2

Have mislaid the chart for this one!

This was a freebie chart by post that ©DMC did back in 1996 for their 250th Anniversary. Not really much left to do to complete it.

And yes, I did start it in 1996!

Willowware Classic. ©Bucilla kit  № 40630

Really don't know how this one escaped not being finished as I adore it. This was printed in Cross Stitch Collection  issue 55 Summer 2000. Design © Jayne Netley Mayhew & can be found in her book:  Cats of the World in Cross Stitch. Published by David & Charles 2000  ISBN 0 7153 1 303 7

Here's a close up. She really knows how to capture a cats expression. The eyes have it!

SS Great Britain. The real thing can be found in dry dock, here in Bristol, UK.
This one is completed. Needs framing.
Can't give any designer details, as I can't find the chart. I remember that his was a kit by a local designer, bought in ASDA  quite a few years ago now.

UFO's Part 1

I was shocked to find I had so many! LOL

© Stitchers World
This will eventually be made into a case for my sunglasses.

From an Australian cross stitch magazine which has gradually evolved into a beading magazine.  Magazines name escapes me! These will be mounted on hoops as Christmas ornies.

Close up of the bottom one.

Stitching complete but I'm not sure what to do with it.
© Lanarte Can't find the chart to finish it!

This one was in an American magazine. Yet another one that chart  disappeared!

© Mary Hickmott. Chart was in August September 1991 issue of Needlecraft . This magazine sadly , is no longer in print. It had charts that you could get your teeth into, unlike most of the tame stuff you find in most magazines today.  Only the border left to finish.

First Finish of 2012

Pincushion Thread Catcher. With many thanks to Karen for her Tutorial which can be found on her website: http://www.merrimentdesign.com/pincushion-thread-catcher.php

N.B. If you're going to make this & are putting in  boning, use a zipper foot on your machine. It will stitch up neater.

I had a bag of sheep wool clippings given to me that I washed & used to stuff the pincushion. I'm very pleased with the result.
Next project will be a sewing caddy that will attach to my swivel sewing chair. I'll be stitching this one from my own pattern that I've yet to draw out!
